Former Democrat Georgia Governor and U.S. Senator Zell Miller endorsed Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell for governor in a speech to Columbus pastors and church leaders yesterday, saying Blackwell has the courage to stick to his principles.

Many in Ohio will be familiar with Zell Miller as he traveled in Ohio supporting President Bush in his campaign last year. In this three horse race for next year’s republican primary, Zell gave an unexpected endorsement saying, ‘Ken is my kind of Republican’. Zell praised Blackwell for supporting the marriage amendment (Issue 1) in Ohio and for fighting to lower taxes, such as the sales tax which was dramtically raised.
