The ‘Left’ continues to hold the Federal Govermnet (ie. President Bush) responsible for the disaster and ” thinking in terms of a negligent homicide.” Yet they comment little on those who chose to stay even though they had transportation. Even you could see people refusing to be removed from their homes. Some who are still on dry ground also want to stay so they can no doubtfully protect their property.
Meanwhile it appears that Mayor Ray Nagin is showing signs of losing it completely as he thrusts blame elsewhere.
New Orleans, Louisiana (AHN) - Apparently suffering from stress and a bit of paranoia, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin tells CNN Saturday night that he believes the CIA will “wipe him out” after his criticism of President Bush and the Federal Government in response to Hurricane Katrina.
There is no doubt that Goverment officials don’t have a great grasp of things at ground level during a crisis. Yet the Mayor and city officials in their planning certainly had a plan (at least on paper) to evacuate those without transportation. Just think of all those school buses that were left in the city which could have carried thousands more to safe ground. Leave it to the American spirit and the will to survive that brings stories about a comandeered school bus that showed up at the Astrodome. Perhaps when the city is rebuilt these people should be put into local offices. At least they can think on their feet instead of blaming someone else for their inaction. Maybe someone should get on TV and blame the buses for not showing up at their house to pick them up. As for those who chose to stay, they knew the risks.
