Reform Ohio Reform Ohio Now (so we can win) Issues

Posted by Conservative Culture On September - 8 - 2005

Any Doubts about Reform Ohio Now?

If there was any doubt about the true face of Reform Ohio Now, even the liberal media are identifying RON as a liberal group. Today’s New York Times (subscription required) headline reads “Democrats and Labor Get Redistricting Vote on Ohio Ballot,” and in the story the paper describes RON as “a coalition dominated by Democrats, unions and watchdog groups.” If the New York Times is classifying RON as a partisan group, that says it all.

Issues 2-5 are RON led issues. Though they received more than enough signitures it is highly doubtful that they were obtained with true representation of what the issues would do. The RON proposals are as follows.

  • Issue 2 will allow early voting in every election - (vote by mail)
  • Issue 3 will place reduced campaign contribution limits in the constution - (does not address limiting union contributions)
  • Issue 4 will change the redistricting process and eliminate the current partisan system - (given to a ‘non-partisan group’ - chosen without partisanship, give me a break. They want to remove the winners of the election from being able to draw the boundaries. Wonder why they didn’t submit that idea the years they had the power?)
  • Issue 5 will create a statewide board of elections to assume oversight duties of the secretary of state - (enlarge govrnment, and really solves nothing)
  • If the people are given the proper information about the amendments they should go down in defeat. Just more democratic attacks on the system they haven’t been able to win under. Their solution: Change the rules until they can win.

Schwarzenegger Will Veto Same Sex Marriage

Posted by Conservative Culture On September - 8 - 2005

We cannot have a system where the people vote and the Legislature derails that vote,” the governor’s press secretary, Margita Thompson, said in a statement. “Out of respect for the will of the people, the governor will veto (the bill).”

Proposition 22 stated that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” The bill to be vetoed by Schwarzenegger would have defined marriage as a civil contract between “two persons.”

It didn’t take the Governor long to come out with his stand on the issue. They called it a girly man decision on his part but the opposite is true. Of course any decision which opposes the gay agenda is called extremist. Perhaps it appears extremist to them because they are so far removed from the average American.
