Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.
Nagin now orders forced evacuations after the fact. Where was that order earlier when it would have done the most good. Apparently the Governor also refused to act on Friday before the storm hit. The President was ready to act and instead Governor Blanco desided to sit on her power and do nothing.
The Bush administration on Friday asked Blanco to give the president control of local law enforcement and the Louisiana National Guard that now answer to the governor. Blanco refused.
Yet the democrats want to blame President Bush. They really don’t have a clue. Don’t be surprised if some more of this continues to leak out and that Mayor of New Orleans and Govornor Blanco are not in office next election.
