Lots of comments have been made about the ‘uncertainty’ concerning Miers’ nomination to the Supreme Court. Turns out that she has had long time connections to Valley Christian Church which is a part of The Restoration Movement. They have a strong commitment to using the Bible (the church’s constitution) as the sole sourse of faith and practice. Along with that tradition also comes a strong belief that one needs to approach the source document with the intent of wanting to understand the writer’s original intent. There is strong reason to believe that Miers is an “Originialist”.
I agree with Nixguy that there were other great choices which would bring a good political fight. But at the end of the day perhaps she will be a winner unlike others.
