Nagin Finds No WMD’s

There is little doubt that some people took advantage of the situation in New Orleans following Katrina. Yet it is now painfully obvious that both Nagin and the media didn’t get the reporting correct.

“There were people who made statements to the press representing New Orleans and Louisiana who really didn’t know what the facts were. I think they were trying to paint a very very grim picture to get help here,” said Bush…

“I do not think the media was irresponsible, because they had sources as high as the New Orleans police chief and the mayor. In fact, it would have been irresponsible not to report it,” said David Rubin, dean of the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

Interesting that when both Democrats and Republicans accepted reports of WMD’s in Iraq. It made sense because they had past behavior illustrating that WMD’s had been used and very well could be used again. Later Democrats would blast the President. However, don’t hold your breath for the Democrats to call for an inquiry of Democrats in New Orleans and their role in their intelligence gathering. As for the Media, they are already covering their tracts.
