Revolutionaries Leaving Church

Barna’s report that only 37% of America is ‘churched’. Of those churched only 8% of mainline denominations have a biblical worldview. The organized church continues to struggle. Years of misunderstanding about what the church is, coupled with a decline in understanding their basic founding document (the Bible for those in Rio Linda) has provided many reasons for people to re-evaluate their involvement.
For years people assumed people left because they left God. The new report is showing evidence that the opposite reason is often the cause. Barna calls them Revolutionaries.
???These are people who are less interested in attending church than in being the church,??? he explained. ???We found that there is a significant distinction in the minds of many people between the local church ??? with a small ???c??? ??? and the universal Church ??? with a capital ???C???. Revolutionaries tend to be more focused on being the Church, capital C, whether they participate in a congregational church or not.???
I would be interested in hearing some comments from Revolutionaries on the subject. On the lighter side, Clarke Comments gives some humerous moments in a worship service. Back on the flipside, it just might illustrate the church’s growing unawareness that their attempts to be current bring only stiffled chuckles. I am sure Revolutionaries have grown tired.

Thanks for the link. I’d never thought of it that way before, but you raise a good point about “the attempt be to current.” This certaintly wasn’t the first time I’ve heard a prayer like this, and that idea definatly explains it.
