Polygamy ban unconstitutional

This is the argument being made by the Utah judge who applied for an additional marriage license. As they argue their case it appears that more is on the line than simply getting the chance to legalize polygamy. Their very salvation is at stake!

The three - who are all more than 45 years old and say polygamous marriage is a requirement for their exaltation and eternal salvation - filed suit in federal court against the clerks. The legal action seeks to overturn an 1879 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, Reynolds v. United States, that upheld Utah’s ban on polygamy.

Strange how such things are the centerpiece of some ‘religious’ belief systems. The judge wants more wives now so he can have an exalted position in the next life. The jihadist muslim wants to blow up people so that he can obtain 70+ virgins in the afterlife.

Either way, the judge will have to adhere to the laws of the land in the end. The debate and fight to legalize Polygamy has just begun. Many will continue to argue that polygamy poses no real threat to society. With the weakening of marriages, especially among Christians it should surprise no one that an easy case can be made that the real problem is weak marriages. With the under pinnings of the Christian-Judeo beliefs being removed we have only seen a long conversation in society as to what will now be acceptable. How far the marriage expansion continues depends on whether if it is too late for Christians to still influence the culture.

[...] His argument was the polygamy ban was unconstitutional. It has taken some time for it to work its way back into the news. We knew that eventually it would… and of course it has surfaced once again. A small-town judge with three wives was ordered removed from the bench by the Utah Supreme Court on Friday. [...]
