Rougue Pastor irate over secondary sex-ed

This would be the most likely headline for the mainstream media. Like many conservative parents he is concerned that schools are teaching material best left to parents. It comes as no surprise that the state is taking more responsibility for issues other than reading, writing and arithmetic while limiting the ability of the parent to have a say. While the argument can be made for more indepth instruction in high school, the public education system strives to push the issue to younger children. Once the decision is made to teach, the question must be asked, “Whose values will be teached?” The state’s or the parent’s? Read a few lines from the curriculum which can be seen here.

  • Promote abstinence, but not to the exclusion of material and instruction on those young people who have had or are having sexual intercourse
  • Teach that no form of sexual expression is acceptable when it physically or emotionally harms oneself or others
  • The dad may be considered rogue (the man lives in Rogue Valley) by some educators, but he also isn’t supported by some of the mainline churches either. I admire his ability to speak up even when he is in the minority.
