Murtha Causes Mixed Emotions - Call to retire

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 23 - 2005

“You don’t send a balloon up and then put a pin in it,” Wilson said. “He’s gotten to the age where he should think about retiring.”

It seems that some in his hometown are starting to wonder about Murtha though some still admire the Marine veteran from the Vietnam War. Even while some sip beer at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post where Murtha’s plaque is hung, some are beginning to question.

More stories such as these need to be aired. It is time not for all the troops to come home, but time for Murtha to head home and remember his roots. The D.C. culture has rattled this one time Marine hero.

“I believed in him all these years, but I think he’s taken a stance now that’s too extreme,” Krug said between sips of beer at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 155, where Murtha is listed on a plaque as a lifelong member.

Time to come home before he continues to harm himself, his constituents and the moral of the armed forces he once serve in.

Elton John ties the knot - It has begun

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 23 - 2005

Elton John ties the knot along with about 700 other couples in what has been called the first ’same-sex weddings’. The Daily Telegraph’s headliner was “Gay pride or unholy alliance.” From criminalization to exaltation, same sex unions now has a strong foothold in Great Britain. Media coverage was either enhanced or slightly overshadowed by Elton’s ‘wedding’.

Despite a few negative rumblings among some church leaders the paper had no difficulty quoting glad tidings of the near Christmas event. This was intentional and only will feed upon the good will toward all men and gay marriages.

“It is wonderful,” Sir Antony said. “It is a little bit of history being made. I feel very proud that this is happening in this country and that we can be part of the very first group to have it done.”

The church of England is also showing a dismantling its own illusions of being united for what is claims to believe. Though being single was a biblical disqualification for being a bishop it appears that they are flirting with going half way and not all the way as it relaxes its restrictions upon the bishops.

The reform is also creating tensions in the Church of England, whose bishops have produced guidance saying that clergy can enter civil partnerships if they make assurances that they will abstain from sex. The House of Bishops banned clergy from holding formal blessing services for such partnerships.

I would suspect that it will accept unions of either one as one bishop is already planning to be united with his male partner.

The Rev Christopher Wardale and his partner, Michael Macourt, had also failed to inform the present Bishop of Durham, the Rt Rev Tom Wright, of their plans.

The culture of England will slowly continue to change and will in the end complete the transformation of the church of England. Though I suspect it will not end there. The BBC has an article entitled “All Equal Now?” which indicates that the movement is still a long way from full acceptance. See this as a requirement eventually for full marriage and the blessings of the organized church.

iPod Priority - Vice President Cheney

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 23 - 2005

I love mac and mac tech. But this isn’t really a site to update all the tech news. But certain mac related articles do catch my eyes. So when I saw the article “Cheney’s iPod takes top priority on extended flight” it had to be looked into.

Apparently some reporters were iTicked when the VP’s ipod took priority when coming to use one of the ‘only working outlets’ on Air Force 2. Big expensive planes and there is on two outlets? This seems hard to believe. Must have been a slow day for news to post this article.

Fascinating that the highly coveted iPod is a part of the VP’s priorities. The iPod according to the Quad City Times is among the hard to find Christmas gifts of the season. Perhaps the reporter was just jealous because she didn’t have one yet.
