Rose bows out for Huffman
December 18, 2005 |
Rose, a former Ohio representative drops from the race for the Ohio House 4th District currently held by term limited Representative John R. Willamowski (R-OH). This leaves the race uncontested for Lima Council President Matt Huffman.
Both Rose and Huffman announced their candidacies on the same day in August. Yet House Speaker Jon Husted and Ohio Sen. Jim Jordan, lent their support for Huffman.
Matt will now be able to focus on his two opponents next year with Democrat Simeon Talley and non-party candidate Dennis Shreefer running for the seat.
Ben Rose will not put his hat in the growing list for U.S. Congressman Oxley’s seat. He didn’t believe his political base isn’t strong enough and that the other candidates had better opportunities.
Rose said his polling showed Jordan, R-Urbana, Ohio Rep. Mike Gilb, R-Findlay, and Rich-land County Commission Ed Olson all with strong local bases. ???Any one of them could lose that race, or any one of them could win it,??? Rose said.
