The “Finger of Fate” - US, Iraqi Elections

Purple fingers will be seen everywhere in Iraq! Despite the security concerns 64 percent turned out for October’s referendum. Last January’s vote garnered 58 percent. Obviously they would like to see 70-80 percent turnout for this election. However, I constantly think of our own election turnouts which would in a general election cycle pale in comparison.
Election turnout in 2004 in the United States was 60.7 percent, the highest since 1968 where there was a 61.9 percent of eligible voters. Americans need more passion for their own election process and should be more involved in the issues and process.
Despite the ‘failure’ cries of the left of how American has failed; our troops have failed; you have to love the words of those Iraqi’s able to now vote.
A seventy seven year old Iraqi voter summed up their appreciation for a free Iraq in these passionate words (video).
“Anyone who doesn’t appreciate what America has done and the President Bush, Let them go to hell.”
You have to love her passion about the freedom to vote she never had. Where is the Left’s passion for freedom and democracy? Perhaps if purple fingers where a part of the American process it would become obvious here who shares a passion to be involved. They face danger… we only face inconvenience and too much apathy.
