Estonia Rejects Marriage Expansion

Posted by Conservative Culture On January - 11 - 2006

Though there are ways to regulate gay relationships in Estonia, there was an outright rejection of same-sex marriage. Despite strong pressure by the gay lobby the new law will contain the definition of marriag as ‘between one man and one woman.”

The so-called cultural elite has been busy trying to prove that they are open-minded, tolerant and progressive by participating in gay events. Conservative intellectuals in Estonia, however, see the acceptance of same-sex marriages as an indication of cultural suicide. They are glad that Estonia is showing less eagerness to commit cultural suicide than Western Europe. The ???New Europe??? is more in line with culturally conservative ???red??? America than the ???Old Europe,??? whose cultural values are the envy of the ???blue??? Americans.

One aspect of the law also declares void marriages of same-sex marriages registered outside Estonia. This is perhaps the strongest provision of the law. It appears that we have something in common with Estonia. They have the same culture conflicts we have in the United States. The “New Europe” is more in line with the conservative “Red States” while the “Old Europe” is like the the “Blue State” Kennedy’s and Kerry’s. It would be nice to see “New Europe” grow in population.

Over Two Years Just Watching TV - Dead!

Posted by Conservative Culture On January - 11 - 2006

Two adults and a child lived in the house with 61 year old Johnnas Pope. Every day they would check in on her to make sure the TV was still on for her.

How sweet. Except for one thing… She died 2 and 1/2 years ago. Her instructions were to leave her in her room sitting in her chair when she died. Her belief was that she would come back to life. Perhpas she was tuned into the wrong channel.

Bird Flu Pandemic - Y2K Again?

Posted by Conservative Culture On January - 11 - 2006

Remember Y2K? The hysteria reminds me of the congressman screaming about the Bird Flu Pandemic. One article already makes the call that such a pandemic is imminent.

Be watching for articles about children and elderly contracting the flu. One such article tells about the an eight year old girl who kissed a sick chicken. Go figure that she contracted the ‘deadly’ H5N1 strain of bird flu.

The next morning, her face and eyes were swollen and she had a high fever. Her father took her to a hospital, and five days later she was confirmed to have the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu…. In parts of the world where the virus has been deadly _ until now only in East Asia _ children like Summeya have been the worst hit.

What gets a brief mention in the article is that she is doing well.

As for Sumeyya, she is expected to be released from the hospital and join her family and her other pets _ dogs, cats and cows _ in the next few days.

Makes you wonder about this pandemic. Apparently there are no reports of human to human transmission. In-spite of questions Global Bank is preparing for the possibility of half its workforce being out when it strikes.

A refreshingly non-panic article out of Scotland has health experts saying it may never happen in Scotland.

But so far the human deaths from H5N1 have all been due to contracting the virus directly from close contact with diseased poultry. There is no evidence that bird flu can be transmitted between humans… It is a theoretical possibility, it may never happen it might happen next week we can’t say.

Though it will be a concern among farmers and a health risk for those in close contact it appears that a pandemic is so far only ‘theoretical’.

Your Momma Kills Animals - PETA attacks

Posted by Conservative Culture On January - 11 - 2006

As the culture becomes less connected with the land and farms they become easily shocked. Can you imagine the pictures today when a farmer teaches his child how to chop the head off a chicken so that it can be cleaned and eaten?

Good farmers and concerned conservatives are not for cruel treatment of animals. Even on milk farms you used to hear of some farmer who allowed his cows to be knee high in manure and poorly care for. This was certainly unacceptable. It was also stupid because the animals were both a source of income and food.

PETA is going to take shots at the young people who have never been on a farm and have no reference to the pictures they see. Cruel behavior they will be able to find and it will be turned into what ‘normally’ happens.

Thankfully the agribusiness sector is aware of this. It’s good for not only the treatment of animals but some connection between the farm and table has to be maintained through.

The rapidly fading connection between the farm and the dinner table has provided groups such as PETA with the opportunity to shape people’s thoughts about production agriculture. And they are taking advantage of it.

There is nothing worse than being taken advantage of by such “Ultra Liberal” extremists.
