Endorsing State Sen. Jim Jordan for Oxley’s seat

Officially the race appears to be down to five candidates. There are four Republicans looking for a trip to Washington D.C. to fill Oxley???s seat: State Sen. Jim Jordan; State Rep. Mike Gilb; Mansfield-Richland Area Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Nestor; Findlay businessman James Stahl. The Democrats are fielding Lima attorney Richard Siferd.
The clear conservative Republican choice in my book is down to only one. State Senator Jim Jordan has the experience, conservative philosophy and disposition to handle the rigors of Washington D.C. If you have any doubt just take a look at his record. So my endorsement goes to Jordan.
State Rep. Mike Gilb is a very nice individual. For the most part he has stood with conservative Willamowski (State Rep.) and Jordan (State Sen.). However, when it came down to the Taft budget he was willing to compromise on an issue he had previously opposed, namely higher taxes. One of the sticking points was the rollback of the sales tax. Jordan stuck to his principles and promise, voting against the Taft budget.
This week I received the mailing from Kevin Nestor’s campaign. He has hired political strategist Mark Weaver and Gary Smith as campaign manager. He touts the reason for entering is because of empty promises. Despite his local credentials, which would be better suited for a run for state representative, these are the exact reasons one needs to vote for Jim Jordan. He has top voting credentials and a record of keeping his promises.
Olson, who dropped out, didn’t have the confidence in his fund raising to meet the campaign needs. The same obstacle will face Nester who will have to raise lots of money to run the campaign. This isn’t made any easier running from his current position.
???In analyzing the money aspect, realistically we could honestly raise about $200,000,??? the 59-year-old Olson said. ???The majority of opinions I heard conservatively said, ???This is an open seat, with no incumbent. There are people like (Jim) Jordan and (Mike) Gilb who can really raise some money. You???re going to have to have half a million to be competitive.???
In the meantime the campaign will soon heat up and Jim’s site is here for you to view. It is still being worked on so you may want to check it periodically.

[...] Jim Jordan should be able grapple with his opponent and narrow the field by primary time. In the meantime the new addition will help see the issues raised and talked about. Issues which Jim Jordan will represent the conservative position very well. [...]
