GA Senators to allow Bible courses

If Georgia Senators have their way, optional Bible classes would be a possible selection for high school students.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Tim Golden of Valdosta, chairman of the Senate???s Democratic caucus. Golden said it would allow for ???nonsectarian, nonreligious academic study??? of the Bible and would require it ???be taught in an objective and non-devotional manner with no attempt made to indoctrinate students.”…

Civil liberties activists say there are ways to teach the Bible in public school without violating the Constitution, but that such a class would create potential problems.

The Bible was instrumental in regards to laws and the concept of inalienable rights which are granted to us by our creator. Whether one becomes ‘devotional’ or not, it is helpful to have a nation understand one of the key documents which help form a nation.

I would like to know if one of the problems the civil liberties activists fear is that morality expressed in the Bible would conflict from the a-moral government they wish to instill. Knowledge of the Bible was view as having been worth something which was of value.

???A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education???
