There are so many articles that seem to come up which relate to marriage and its possible expansion.

The Examiner’s headline: “Judge rejects Maryland same-sex marriage ban.” A Baltimore Circuit Court judge ruled that the ban violated the state constitution. The order however, did include a stay on gay marriages anticipating an appeal.

Unrelated to expansion there was news of Michael Schiavo who applied for a marriage license. His former wife is no longer a roadblock to his new marriage.

Mainland Australia is set to have the first legal registration of same-sex unions next month. The article “Gay couples can register here for same-sex union

With all that is going on in England, 356gay.com seems to anticipate thatIreland is moving closer to Civil Partnerships for Gay Couples.

Summit Daily News reports from Denver that a religious leader of about 100 clergy have been fighting a losing battle in the legislature. Now supporting Democrats who promise to put the issue on the ballot he is attempting to go directly to the people. Might be hard considering that Colorado this year is considering making the killing of a fetus a felony with some exceptions. Disturbing is that ‘clergy’ are pushing the expansion.

EU passes resolution which bans “Homophobia”. It passed by a large majority (468 to 149, 41 abstentions). To further the disturbing aspects of this resolution is that it calls for action against member states who fail to combat Homophobia. (See where this is going)

Same-sex marriage banned as intolerance grows” The Nigerian government will dictate 5 year jail sentences for anyone who has or performs a gay wedding. The code words in the article are ‘religious fundamentalism’ that seems to have gripped the Christian South and the Muslim north. Of course vigilantes are mentioned and the beatings, rapes of those who are not straight. What escapes the media is that none of those actions can legitimately be equated with Christian. The most interesting approach in support of homosexuality is that it reduces the ‘burden’ on women.

So rounds out the news recently. I anticipate that this will be a regular feature until shut-down by the authorities due to the homophobic nature of the topic.
