Defending Jihad Raggedy Ann

It did strike me as odd that so many conservatives would turn on the outspoken Ann Coulter. I noticed this reading several blogs. Wondering if I was the last to still respect her in spite of the comments which appear to have set everyone off I kept the comments in mind.

Today I see the article by California Conservative’s article “In Defense of Ann Coulter?” It is well written and put together. Must read for all conservatives who seem to dump on Ann. The comments which started this?

???What if they start having one of these bipolar episodes with nuclear weapons?

I think our motto should be, post-9/11, ???Raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences.???

So she ragged (pun intended) on the clothing they wear. Big deal. She could have used words like “evildoers”, “murderer” and others I won’t use. Who was offended? Conservatives? Not likely. The jihadists? So what? They don’t give a hoot about your life, your thoughts and would rather end the western way of life. Does that sound offensive to you? If it doesn’t then it should. Take a look at the culture and lifestyle they would impose on you and I without any second thoughts. Saying Ann’s comments set things back is like accusing the rape victim for being attacked. It is the violence within the jihadists which incite the violence rather than an exchange of words.

California Conservative’s words I thought were excellent.

I thought Ann Coulter was also speaking about ???radical Islamists??? who are ???evildoers???, ???bloody murderers??? and ???bastards??? as well. And what about beloved free speech? Supporting Denmark???s free speech to criticize Mohammad and Islam, but not Ann Coulter???s to criticize, using sarcasm, radical Islam?

I am also not ready to throw in a the towel on Ann Coulter. She has been attacked, pied and abused by the tolerant liberals of this world. Her comments are far less offensive than the actions of those who have caused the mild mannered Ann Coulter to become the Jihad Raggedy Ann.

Paul Belien writes a great article on “Muslims Create Islamophobes, Then Want Islamophobes Punished.”

YES! Somebody else who sees the light! I think Conservatives are buying into the PC trap.

I was reluctant to do the “Buy Denmark” thing, although I firmly believe in free speech, because what supporting such an effort can do for you, it can do to you.

I’m not as concerned about “raghead” comments as I am about the “poison Justice Stevens” remark followed by “oh, I’m just joking” that occurred about three weeks ago.

If she hadn’t pulled that stunt, I think the “raghead” reaction might have been a lot more subdued.

I’m generally OK with her over-the-top rhetoric. I cut her plenty of slack right after 9/11 on her “kill all _____ (can’t remember) and convert to Christianity” line because of the death of Barbara Olsen in one of the hijacked planes.

But the Stevens thing is too far. I’m afraid she wants to be seen as the shock jock of the right. Bad idea.

If cartoonist Ted Rall had a character advocating poisoning, oh, Condi Rice, in a comic strip, who then says “never mind,” we’d be going nuts in anger.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask Ann to avoid advocating murder, even in jest.

The point, I believe, of Ann Coulter’s comments were the same as the point of the cartoons: to reveal hypocrisy.

Point 1) If Mohammed was such a great, peaceful prophet, his followers are wrapping his legacy in deceit with their suicide bombings, violent rampages, beheadings and so on. Islam has NOT gone far enough to distance itself from these acts of violence and human rights violations. This IS part of the problem.

Point 2) Perhaps radical Muslims ARE accurately portraying the prophet with violence. Perhaps they “say” peace but mean “violence”.

Point 3) Perhaps both are true: Mohammed was not a man of peace and his followers are following suit while invoking the privilege of reputation (a false reputation of peace which they call upon in times of trouble). In other words, perhaps radical Islam is overtly a violent religion while feigning “peace” and “justice”, relying on libertines everywhere to protect that facade.

If Coulter were a racist, she would have made a comment about Arab skin tone or man-dresses or something else culturally significant to Muslims. Instead, she pointed out a headdress worn by religious Muslims. I say, “Point well made, Ann.”

I just read the article on Townhall and she had changed the “raghead ” comment to “camel jockeys, whatever you want and then said “grow up” or something along those lines. I agree she’s the “shock jock” of the right, but then I’m tired of being the “nice guy” all the time and glad someone else is willing to go “over-the-top” sometimes!
