Iraq: The Right Woman for the Job

(HT to Atlas Shrugs) There are those moments in blogging where you horizons broaden just a bit. Atlas pointed to Murdoc Online about a photo on an Iraqi woman and a US woman soldier. I followed the link and found a great article and site.

The woman solider is identified as Pfc. Janelle Zlkovsky. One of her pictures also made the Year in Photos 2005 at Call to Duty.

Pfc. Janelle Zalkovsky, from a civil affairs unit of 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, provides security while other Soldiers survey a newly constructed road in Ibriam Jaffes, Iraq. Photo by Spc. Charles W. Gill.

Murdoc does an interesting interview via email and worth the read if you are interested in our troops. She answers questions about her tour in Iraq and is great reading. The Iraqi women seem to be more willing to talk to the women in uniform. On the downside the terrorists don’t care who wheres the uniform. Everyone is a target.

Here is to our troops… and today to our female troops who have volunteered and do their job in difficult areas.
