Positive Picture - Iraq

Posted by Conservative Culture On March - 2 - 2006

Posting the positive things you won’t find in the MSM is one of the joys of blogging. So without further delay I present the newest positive pictures in Iraq.

SPC Miguel Contreras of HG Platton, Barvo Company, 2nd Battalion, 237th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division takes a Knee and jokes with children during a dismounted foot patrol in the city of Kirkuk, Iraq.

Few Know 1st Amendment

Posted by Conservative Culture On March - 2 - 2006

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Anyone who has every watched Jay Leno’s “Jay Walking” segment isn’t surprised by this. Those who are in churches face the same thing. No one knows their founding documents. So when Poli Blog, Wizbang and BlogenLust that only few know the most important social and political document that guides the nation they live in.

* 1 in 4 Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment.
* 1 in 1000 can name all of the five freedoms.
* More people can name the three American Idol judges than identify three First Amendment rights.
* More than half can name at least two members of The Simpsons.
* 22% can name all five members of The Simpsons.
* 1 in 5 people thought the right to own a pet was protected by the First Amendment.

Apparently, more people know about the Simpsons more than they do about the First Amendment.

>The study by the new McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum found that 22 percent of Americans could name all five Simpson family members, compared with just one in 1,000 people who could name all five First Amendment freedoms.

If more people knew the Constitution instead of depending on liberal’s defining it for them, liberalism would be dead in the water. Sad and hopefully the new trend in blogging can help shed light and help turn the trend around. Should I hold my breath?
