Nagin - Liberal Poster Boy over clean up

What better example of the liberal mindset when it comes to the approach government should take. Mayor (for now) Nagin has come up with a solution why liberalism will never be able to govern well.

Hurricane Katrina left approximately 50,000 cars that are flood damaged and need to be removed. So here is a test to see if you are a liberal. What decision would you make as Mayor?

1) A company approaches you with a proposal. They will come, crush the cars and haul them off for you. You ask how much you will have to pay for this to happen. The man looks at you… laughs and then says you misunderstand. I will pay you $100 for each car I haul off. It will take about 3-4 months to get done.

2) Your staff comes up with another option for you to consider. Here you ask a company to come into the city to remove the cars. You wait for them to offer a price they will pay per car. Instead they say they will bill you $23 million and will take 6 months.

No brainer. Except the no brainer decision is that you spend $23 million of tax payer money. It takes longer to get done. The company gets $23 million plus money they will make off the scrap. Then you send a bill to the former car owner for having to clean up the car they didn’t drive out of town because you forgot to issue the early mandatory evacuation. Life is good when you are a liberal. You always get to spend the taxpayer’s money. Poster Boy Nagin. This Bud’s for you. Oh yeah… here’s your sign.
