Slain Minister’s Wife In Jail

Tragic story. A Minister is shot by his wife who is found with the children out of state. The congregation is in shock.

“Listen, the Mary we knew didn’t do this,” Anita Whirley said as she planted purple, yellow and red pansies. “She was a wonderful person. We just don’t understand.”

Which brings the question: How well do we really know each other. Religion tends to produce superficial relationships. Something key was missing in this picture. I have a feeling much more hasn’t been revealed yet. This isn’t just a random act but was probably coming. People may have seen it and didn’t recognize the the signs for what they are.

Some will look at this negatively toward Jesus Christ. It shouldn’t. But it should drive followers of Jesus to be more authentic and transparent. If Christians say they don’t understand… how will non-Christians see this other than in the natural order of things: “Religion is meaningless and Christians aren’t any different than everyone else.”

Sad….
