The Drive-In Christian Church

Posted by Conservative Culture On March - 6 - 2006

I saw this church near the beach one year while in Florida some years back. Right across from the beach I thought it was an interesting approach. It wasn’t Sunday when we were there so we drove by the entrance shack. Apparently you pick up your communion and then find a drive-in speaker to park by. That was the last I had really given much thought to it.

Then this article came to the surface about the Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Everyone will be given communion, but this will be specially delivered in a tackle box, the minister said, in a clean bait cup.

A station will be set up for an informal church choir, and those interested may exit their vehicles and sing. Participants also will take home a special gift in the form of brightly-colored fish key chains or other accoutrements.

The article says you can attend for 5 minutes and never get out of the car.

“People will be busy doing any number of activities but we want to allow folks to have a moment or two, if that’s what they can spare, to think about worship,” she said…

“In our church, we believe that God created each and every one of us as good, and we celebrate that,” she said.

Whatever one may think about the church or its method, you have to admit this isn’t something you hear or see everyday. (HT to Church Marketing Sucks)
