Montgomery County assistant public defender Michael R. Pentecost predicted Saturday that the appeal’s court decision also will limit the ability of unmarried people to get domestic violence protection orders. State lawmakers may have to amend the law, he said.
“The people who backed this amendment were not thinking about these types of unintended consequences,” Pentecost said. “They got so overzealous.”

So let me get this right. We need to legalize marriage for same sex couples because they can’t get protection from domestic violence without it. Don’t tell me I am the only that sees the stupidity of the argument.
1. Same sex couples who choose to live together have no ‘marriage chain’ to hold them together. If the partner is abusive… just leave. It is that simple unless you like the abuse. You don’t need a court to do that for you. If you are worried about material items make a legal agreement prior to moving in.
2. If you experience ‘domestic’ abuse (which is impossible because you are not a ‘domestic’ couple. But you still have strong laws protecting you and every citizen from ‘creeps’ who beat on people. Charge them with assault and put them in jail. If you are in danger, take training and get a carry conceal weapon.
No new laws or concessions need to be made. No one is denied basic rights or protection of the law. The argument is a hallow farce and a lie. What I want to know is this. If a gay man attacks his domestic partner will he be charged with a hate crime? Just wondering.

If this story wasnt so ridicoulous I might have a legitmate comment. I cant believe that people would waste their time arguing for gay marriage on that basis.
