The great Red State of Ohio has garnered national attention over the last several Presidential elections. In crucial moments it has tipped the balance away from liberal to conservative politics. At least that has been the scenario painted in the national news. With Republican control in Ohio one might have expected conservative causes to garner not only attention but action. Sadly that hasn’t always been the case.
Note the recent Taft snubs conservatives on gun rights. The Open Audits Bill (now in the Senate) is being targeted by Taft for veto if the Amendment State Rep. Willamowski help get attached which allows for privacy of carry conceal card holders. Instead of being supportive to protect this vital privacy issue, you have the head Republican in office threatening it like a good democrat. Very disappointing. Ohio House Speaker Husted (R-Kettering) voted against the amendment because of Taft. Yet contrast this to the vote taken on the Amendment.
Thirteen Democrats, including Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern, voted to restrict access to gun permits, helping the GOP-sponsored amendment to pass 51-43.
There are 13 Democrats with more guts than the governor.
In other news it appears that Moms for Ohio isn’t really pro-life either. They endorsed pro-choice Montgomery over Grendell who are facing off in the primary for Attorney General. Slightly confusing messages being sent as that issue is really a prerequisite for being a mother. It appears that as conservative as Ohio is, there is still difficulty getting ‘true believers’ in conservative culture into the top offices. Thankfully there are still some key players willing to lay it on the line for such important issues.

This is ridiculous. Taft is a lame duck with zero political capital and the GOP General Assembly actually cares what he thinks.
This gives the Dems who voted as the did, and more importantly Strickland, a fall talking point as being to the right of the GOP on guns. Unbelievable.

Where are they? Were they ever here? Or did “everything change after 9/11″ and they all turned into State-Worshipping Pumpkins?

That is the reason why small groups like mine, Grassroots American Values, are important. We realized too much happens locally, and there are almost no local groups to help spread the Conservative message and push our agenda.
Please, do not be fooled by Redfern: he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing! To my dismay, the NRA has endorsed Redfern! There is a Christian Conservative Republican running against him (Ed Enderle: http://www.edenderle.com/ ), who’s a member of the NRA, but was not endorsed! What’s wrong with the NRA?!
