The Visgoths Have Crossed the Border

Posted by Conservative Culture On April - 14 - 2006

Ironic. The greatest super power in all the world brought low by a less sophisticated culture. No, I wasn’t talking about the United States but I might as well have been.

It was August 24, 410 that the Visigoths under King Alaric besieged Rome. Why? Because negotiations with the super power broke down. The topic at hand? Low and behold it was over land and supplies.

Under command of King Alaric, the Visigoths besieged Rome when negotiations with the empire for land and supplies broke down. On August 24, allies of Alaric within the city opened the gates, and the Visigoths plundered the capital for three days. They treated the inhabitants humanely, burning few buildings, but nevertheless the incident was shocking, for it had been almost 800 years since a foreign force had occupied Rome.

Why would a super power lose negotiations to a force that it should have been able to defeat? Some historians will give an array of answers. But one is the erosion of the culture. That includes the strength and will of the nation. Today we are seeing something similar. A negotiation for land and supplies. Consider this report from the Violence Worker who extracted excerpts from CNN.

Illegal aliens and their supporters are emboldened by their massive rallies in recent weeks. They are now making plans for an even greater demonstration on May 1st. These groups say they can convince Congress and the American public to support amnesty, and they plan to do it by shutting down parts of our economy.

The US has no strength to deal with the ‘negotiations’. The fact that they have the power to ‘negotiate’ reveals the weakened position we have. Even if we had the power it appears that there is no strength left in the American people as a whole to stand up for the rule of law. If more Americans were like the Minute Men the borders would be sealed and the illegals exported. Those waiting legally would be expedited and allowed legal entry to help fill any voids in the economy.

Thanks to Diggersrealm for the quote on immigration by Teddy Roosevelt in 1907 which you will find interesting.

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith, becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person???s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American?? There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn???t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag?? We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language?? and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.??????Theodore Roosevelt, 1907

Like the unruly mobs of France, they know there is little strength left. There is no desire to assimilate but rather to dominate. They may wave the American flag but their behavior and words betray the fact that they will never be real Americans. Unless Americans wake up and do something, then the only question is how long before the negotiations fail and Rome is ransacked?
