Bush Seals Documents - Jefferson’s Fit

Posted by Conservative Culture On May - 26 - 2006

Congressman William Jefferson (not Clinton but Clintonesque) D-La. is fit to be tied over the seizing of documents that could lead to his removal and arrest. Under the guise of separation of powers his cronies have convinced the President to seal the records taken by the FBI. If that was the end of the story (or becomes the end of the story) I might find myself in agreement with Rhymes with Right.

Unless we start seeing a sharp reversal in conduct, I’m done with George W. Bush. This isn’t about politics — it is about the proper stewardship of the laws and the Constitution. I’m disgusted by his intervention in the Jefferson case.

I have a feeling that it won’t be the end and that it is temporary. Here is a clip from Topix.net news.

This period will provide both parties more time to resolve the issues in a way that ensures that materials relevant to the ongoing criminal investigation are made available to prosecutors in a manner that respects the interests of a coequal branch of government,’ Bush said.

In a statement, Bush said he recognized that Republican and Democratic leaders in the House had ‘deeply held views’ that the search on Rep. William Jefferson’s Capitol Hill office violated the Constitution’s separation of powers principles. But he stopped short of saying he agreed with them.

‘Our government has not faced such a dilemma in more than two centuries,’ the president said. ‘Yet after days of discussions, it is clear these differences will require more time to be worked out.’

Though this has left everyone feeling a little suspicious in light of all the odd behavior going on inside the Beltway. Perhaps the clarity of being on the outside has provided Outside the Beltway with this observation.

Glenn Reynolds wonders, ???Could Al Qaeda have slipped mind-altering drugs into the DC water supply? What???s gotten into these people? Or has some sort of deal been cut? Whatever it is, I don???t think I like it.??? Indeed.

They say living there makes one lose perspective. I just hope that the rest of America isn’t stricken with the problems of the Roman Senate and governement… excess, power, corruption and not enough funds.

Meanwhile, Jefferson is certainly needing to be investigated, charged and thrown out of office. Let him have his little fit. Let him try to hid behind the Constitution. Then Congress ought to do their job and throw the bum out.

HELP - Mexico Needs To Be Free

Posted by Conservative Culture On May - 26 - 2006

Diggers Realm tells about how the Mexican Drug Lords are beheading police officers in Mexico. A sure heavy handed tactic that smacks of Saddam and his terrorist buddies.

Police enraged by the kidnapping of six officers club unarmed detainees. A bloody battle between steelworkers and police leaves two miners dead. Drug lords post the heads of decapitated police on a fence to show who’s in charge.

In April, suspected drug lords posted the heads of two police officers on a wall outside a government building where four drug traffickers died in a Jan. 27 shootout with officers in the Pacific resort of Acapulco.

A sign nearby read: “So that you learn to respect.”

It is obvious that the people of Mexico need to be freed. Might one consider that the flood of people to the US is a result of a persecuted and oppressed people? Shouldn’t the two pronged approach consider sealing the border and then taking action so that the people have reason to stay… and even return to their country?

Perhaps we just let everyone come from Mexico and then pay the thugs to run the prisons in Mexico. What would happen if the murderers, rapists and sexual offenders were sent to Mexico. No one would go for either of these ideas… but nothing works if the border remains open.

SUV’s Owners Deflated by Ruling

Posted by Conservative Culture On May - 26 - 2006

The title caught my attention. But the article was even more fascinating as the Brussels Journal did a follow up on a gang’s activity. This year there were a number of SUV’s tires being deflated as a protest. Each night there might have been 100 SUV’s whose tires were deflated.

Leave it to the ‘eco-terrorists’ to find a creative way to garner attention and avoid police intervention. The argument was that the ‘theft of air’ isn’t illegal. Since the cars were not damaged the police refused to register complaints. The newest development was Belgian’s minister of ‘justice’ (?) confirms that deflating tires isn’t a crime. One might argue that hate crime laws might apply since the ‘eco-terrorists’ hate SUV’s and their owners. But we know those terms are agenda driven and not meant to secure justice. The SUV owners would disagree with the ruling and am sure they are deflated by the decision.
