Immigration - Not Fine

As you know from recent posts by yours truly that the immigration issue is not only increasing but both parties seem reluctant to do anything significant about the problem. The final straw for me was when the border patrol was point out to the Mexican government where the Minute Men were. Sure… they had out maps to the illegals coming here. Now they can give daily updates to the best routes for the day. How stupid is that?
Advice Goddess (I know… but the articles were excellent and we agree on this issue) goes after both parties on this topic.
Well, no it isn’t. But, that’s the message we’re sending with the laughable enforcement efforts on businesses who hire illegals. How many businesses were fined for this in 2004? Three. Yes, in the entire USA, in 2004, only three businesses were fined for hiring illegals.
She quotes Lou Dobbs who seems to echo others, including conservatives on this issue.
Would you do so if the law were more to your liking? Would you secure our borders and ports? Would you halt illegal immigration? Those are rhetorical questions, only, I assure you. The answers are obvious; obvious because of your conduct.
As many as 3 million illegal aliens continue to cross our border with Mexico each year. Enforcement against illegal employers of illegal aliens in this country is all but nonexistent, Mr. President. How do you explain that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have all but ended their investigations and inspections of employers that hire illegal aliens? Again, only a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer.
In fact this post wouldn’t be needed if the Republicans (and Democrats) would simply have followed through on their last amnesty bill under Reagan. Seal the borders was a part of that deal. So until they do so anything else is meaningless.
If Republicans want the support of conservatives they had better act on meaningful legislation and even more importantly… the enforcement of current laws. But it appears both parties are more concerned about potential future voters than the rule of law.
