Ohio Races - 4th District Races

It was a long day working the polls. New equipment. A few new election rules that affected us this primary and will all change before the next election. That said, my precinct had between 30-35%. Not bad but would be nice if that were double that figure. The races I was privy to be able to watch come in were the following.

Preston, Vern 25,116 31.33%
Batte, Leslie K. 22,116 27.59%
Willamowski, John R. 32,931 41.08%

It looks like Preston not only outspent Willamowski but didn’t get much of a return on the money. Batte was key in kicking some judicial boote. (If you heard the commercial you will get the pronunciation).

Jordan, Jim 37,659 50.57%

Guglielmi, Frank A. 22,253 29.88%
Nestor, Kevin 8,407 11.29%
Stahl, James R. 2,580 3.46%
Martin, Nathan J. 2,341 3.14%
Weasel, Charles W. 1,230 1.65%

This horse race was filled with some great moments. From Weasel who certainly wasn’t the conservative candidate but was a light hearted candidate. Even likable for a Weasel :)

Nathan Martin was also an interesting candidate who was truly conservative. His lack of name recognition wasn’t overcome by his Iraq war experience. A long shot, he went on the attack hoping to gain ground. That didn’t occur. But he is a likable candidate and hopefully he won’t drop off the political map after this race.

Jordan overcame nearly 2 million dollars spent by Findley candidates. Not an easy task but his consistent message, solid record and opposition to Taft taxes brought in over 50% of the vote despite the number of candidates. I look forward to seeing Jordan as our rep in Washington. How will he do inside the beltway? It isn’t kind to any new comer, much like the Newt Revolution, it will be refreshing to have consistent conservative values in Washington.
