DeWine Trying To Lose Votes On Purpose

You run for US Senate. You are up for re-election. Sarah Brady says… “We want to endorse you!” What’s your response? How about…. “No thanks, I support the Constitution of the United States and accepting that endorsement would be a breach of the public trust.”

Well, in the real world of Sen. DeWine that answer isn’t going to be coming unless h reads this article and changes his mind.

Sen. Mike DeWine today became the first Senate candidate of 2006 to win an endorsement from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the country’s top gun violence prevention group.

Sarah Brady, who is honorary chairwoman of the campaign, said that in a political world where many pander to special interests, DeWine “consistently and reliably does the right thing for his country and for the people of Ohio.”

DeWine was a vocal opponent of a bill that Congress passed last year to shield gun dealers and manufacturers from lawsuits brought by victims of gun crimes or their families.

What a dumb campaign anyway. Who thought of “Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.” Sounds like guns jumping out of homes and committing violent acts against innocent victims. How about a campaign to stop violent creeps of society movement? Legal manufacture of guns, their sales and possession by law abiding citizens shouldn’t be the acts that they try to make criminal. While they talk about keep guns out of the hands of people who need to protect themselves… the criminals continue to be violent.

Who makes DeWine’s policy decisions anyway? I would like to know.

    Mark,

I don’t know if you noticed my post on this a few days ago:

At any rate, you sure picked a great headline, and I couldn’t agree more. He’s running what appears to a conservative to be an ill-thought-out campaign.

Ahhh. The famous double post. But worth the attention. So how do we have a conservative republican who can fill the post without first losing it to the dems.

I’m not positive I understand your question.

How do we get a conservative Republican into the Senate seat? Either we have to win in the primary against DeWine or watch the Dems unseat DeWine and then we would have to produce a truly conservative Candidate to face the Dem.

Right now a conservative candidate isn’t able to unseat DeWine in the primary. I am afraid that DeWine would have to lose an election before a truly conservative could be put on the fall ballot.

I get your point. Is it worth losing the seat for six years to have the chance to get a true Republican in that position at that time? I don’t know.

Its a thought… but in reality DeWine would have do something really Dem like to follow through. We still need him for most of the other votes. Even losing DeWine would tip the balance of the Senate.

Yes. It’s not like I would vote for Sherrod just to get DeWine out. He’s okay on many issues.
