Same Sex Marriage Gaining More Church Support

The Episcopals are not the only denomination to slip into the dark side. Several others are also headed in that direction or are there already.
The Methodists are already pushing on this issue and with the Episcopals taking a bold step where Jesus never set foot, the Methodists may now be embolden to come out in support of homosexual marriage.
That’s because the annual meeting of Minnesota Methodists approved several petitions to the denomination’s next general conference that endorse openly gay clergy and same-sex marriage.
The closest vote, 358 to 356, backed a proposal that the denomination define marriage as between “two adult persons” rather than “a man and a woman” and cease supporting civil laws that require heterosexual definitions of marriage.
A separate bill encouraged secular laws to “ensure full civil and economic rights for persons in civil unions and marriages without regard to the gender of the partners.”
Of course it is no surprise from past posts that the United Church of Christ is in favor of same sex marriage. They have now join forces in Wisconsin against the Marriage Amendment.
Delegates from United Church of Christ congregations around Wisconsin have gone on record against the proposed state constitutional amendment defining marriage that will be on the ballot in November.
The vote came after a year of discussion in many of the 231 UCC congregations in the state and an hour of debate on the floor of the denomination’s annual meeting held at the Green Lake Conference Center.
Well, now the forces have garnered their combine clout to fight against a Conservative definition of marriage. Obviously the struggle goes deeper than that. Something they will be held accountable for at a future date. It appears a new Western Order of things is taking shape. It will only fuel the anti-west Jihadists as they ‘truth’ about ‘Christianized’ western culture abandoning God.

I never thought about how the liberalization of the American church is impacting jihadis’ view of us - good point. Many of these same organizations have already been supporting other liberal issues, such as supporting gun control and opposition to the war on terror. For example, my area has a strong Mennonite background (as does my own geneology). That denomination has also gone liberal, a fact which surprises many people who still egt images of the Amish in their head when someone says the word Mennonite. My theory is that their pacifist theology led them into bed with other anti-war types, whose liberal ideas on homosexuality, etc. have rubbed off.

Thanks for the comment. The ‘Christian’ facade is falling off fast and those who really listen to Jesus Christ will become marginalized. That however won’t save us from radical Muslim Jihadists who view all ‘Christians’ under the same banner… “Targets”.

Chad,
I think that the Mennonites have enough local control that some churches are liberal, while others are conservative. There are “Christian Light Publications” Mennonites (a more ‘worldly’ Mennonite book publisher), and “Rod & Staff” Mennonites (a quite conservative Mennonite publisher.
In my area (Richland County) we have quite a few conservative Mennonites. There are enough of them in the northern part of the county that I am certain there are some worldly ones, too, but the ones we have personally come into contact with have been pretty conservative (to moderately conservative).
