Positive Picture - Afghanistan

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

UPDATE: I failed to properly identify the photographer of this picture. I was duly notified of such by Sgt. Tim Sanders. It was my error and I happily would like to apologize for not doing so. Here is his letter.

One of my photos was used in your ‘positive photo’ section. The photo was of Capt. Harris examining a baby during a medical mission in Afghanistan. I am happy to see my work being published in different venues, but I would also like to recieve credit for the photography I am constantly risking my life for. It does the photographer so much justic to just add a photo byline after the photo. Although I am a military photographer, I am always planning for the future and in order for me to recieve credit for my hard-earned photos, and possibly future jobs, they must be properly attributed.

I would greatly appreciate it if you gave photographers credit for their work in any future postings.

Thank You,
Sgt. Tim Sander

So noted Sgt Sanders. I appreciate the work you do and am happy to give any exposure I can to your work. Please accept my public apology.

New “Statue of Liberation” - Free Styling Lady Liberty

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

Lady Liberty born again. So it seems as a mega church spent $260,000 dollars on the project. Whatever one may think it was ambitious. Also striking is that this is a black church which spear headed the new Lady Liberty.

Mr. Williams has written several books and pamphlets analyzing a variety of matters, among them patriotism and the original intent of the founding fathers.

In “The Meaning of the Statue of Liberation Through Christ: Reconnecting Patriotism With Christianity,” he explains that the teardrop on his Lady is God’s response to what he calls the nation’s ills, including legalized abortion, a lack of prayer in schools and the country’s “promotion of expressions of New Age, Wicca, secularism and humanism.” In another book, he said Hurricane Katrina was retribution for New Orleans’s embrace of sin.

Mr. Williams said his statue’s essential point was that Christianity should be the guiding ethos of the nation. But because the church he leads is predominantly black, as is he, there is an added dimension to the message.

It appears the Mr. Williams misspoke in his enthusiasm for the unveiling. While I would say it will get attention it certainly doesn’t prove anything except their willingness to take on the task.

“I decree the spirit of conviction on this intersection,” Mr. Williams boomed from a podium decorated with red, white and blue bunting. “This statue proves that Jesus Christ is Lord over America, he is Lord over Tennessee, he is Lord over Memphis.”

Church Marketing Sucks posted this section from the NY Times followed by their own comments.

“[It's] a creative means of just really letting people know that God is the foundation of our nation,” said the church’s pastor, Alton R. Williams. According to the New York Times, Williams has also bought full page ads in a Memphis paper condemning homosexuality, lists “legalized abortion, a lack of prayer in schools and the country’s ‘promotion of expressions of New Age, Wicca, secularism and humanism,’” among the nation’s ills, and claimed Hurricane Katrina was punishment for the sins of New Orleans.

Just add it to the other religious monuments, including ‘touchdown’ Jesus and the 99-foot eyesore.

I never heard of either of those monuments. If you did… then you are way ahead of me. Click on the link to Church Marketing Sucks and at the end of the article are the two links for the other monuments.

NY & Georgia Supreme Court - Right On Marriage

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

Georgia I might have guessed. But New York? Two Courts and similar rulings came out today on the marriage issue.

The top courts in two states dealt setbacks to the gay marriage movement today, with New York’s highest court ruling same-sex unions are not allowed under state law and the Georgia Supreme Court reinstating a voter-approved ban on gay marriage.

Though they continue to use the word ban the primary issue has been to define legally what has been understood for centuries. At least the courts recognized the long history and tradition in America of a family being characterized as one man and one woman.

The New York decision said lawmakers have a legitimate interest in protecting children by limiting marriage to heterosexual couples and that the law does not deny homosexual couples any “fundamental right” since same-sex marriages are not “deeply rooted in the nation’s history and tradition.”

Not content to sit by and watch conservative definitions stand there will continue to be more work done to eliminate the conservative culture’s definition of marriage.

Plaintiff Regina Cicchetti said she was “devastated” by the ruling. But the Port Jervis resident said she and her partner of 36 years, Susan Zimmer, would fight on, probably by lobbying the Legislature for a change in the law.

“We haven’t given up,” she said. “We’re in this for the long haul. If we can’t get it done for us, we’ll get it done for the people behind us.”

There is more to this. Why the big fight over an issue that such a small minority really are passionate about. In reality, other nations with same-sex marriage available it is rarely used. They don’t want same sex marriage but rather undermine the definition as given by our Creator. It is intentional and they know it.

Muslims Murder Pastor and Daughter

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

As the religion of peace continues its conflict with the Philippines government there are two more deaths of Christians.

While officiating at a wedding on June 3, Pastor Mocsin L. Hasim received a text message: ???Pastor, you will die today.??? The 47-year old pastor had been receiving death threats for months. He brushed it off. After the wedding, he and his 22-year-old daughter, Mercilyn, headed home by motorcycle. Their bodies were later found near their motorcycle in an isolated area of Zamboanga Del Norte province in western Mindanao of the Philippines. Pastor Hasim had been shot 19 times, mostly in the back. Mercilyn was shot five times. There were no known witnesses to the gruesome killings, but police suspect that there were three gunmen, possibly new members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a Muslim rebel group with a long history of armed conflict against the national government. One of the pastor???s nieces noted, ???Also, some Muslim extremists in the area were inviting him to embrace Islam once again, but he refused.??? Pastor Hasim had received death threats in the months leading up to the murder. During a gift-giving activity in one community, a Muslim approached him and told him to stop what he was doing, lest he be killed. Despite these threats, he remained unmoved and continued his activities, even starting a radio ministry. Mercilyn accompanied him during most of his work.

HT: Rhymes with Right

Ahhh. Now I see. Just another infidel who refused to accept the ‘truth’ of Islam.

Danes Sentence Entire Muslim Clan for Murder

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

The article is very careful to not use the word Muslim. It is a delicate situation but it shows some courage to confront a Muslim ‘tradition’ of killing family infidels.

This week, for the very first time, a court in Europe sentenced nine members of the same family for the honour killing of a female relative. Honour killings, where a woman is murdered for the shame that she is said to have brought on her family, are a growing phenomenon in Western Europe. In December 2005 Nazir Afzal, a spokesman of Britain???s Crown Prosecution Service stated that the United Kingdom has had ???at least a dozen honour killings??? between 2004 and 2005. British police are investigating more than 100 cases of women who died under mysterious circumstances. Germany was shocked last year by the murder of Hatin Surucu, a young Turkish woman who was killed by three brothers because she was ???a whore who lived like a German.???

The phrase ‘lived like a German’ reveals the real view of western culture which clashes fundamentally with Islamic law. The case is historic in its ruling.

The Danish verdict is historic, not only because the entire clan was punished but also because the head of the family, who ordered the killing, was given a heavier sentence than the actual murderer. Families often choose a family member who is still a minor to carry out an honour assassination because, being a minor, he is likely to get a more lenient sentence under Western law.

Still watching for reaction to this from the Muslim Community. So far I have found little either positive or negative.

More Korean Missiles Ready

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 6 - 2006

You have to love how the MSM covers the news. Read this report’s initial statement.

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea has three or four more missiles on launch pads, South Korean media reported Thursday

Now comes the reporter quoting Japan in the same line.

…while Japan said there was no sign the communist state was planning another immediate launch of a long-range rocket.

I have only two questions: From where do you fire missiles? Why do you think they are storing the missiles on a launch pad?
