Right Wing News notes that Bill Clinton said this at a 2002 fundraiser:

“The Israelis know that if the Iraqi or the Iranian army came across the Jordan River, I would personally grab a rifle, get in a ditch, and fight and die.”

He just might have his chance, soon. While I’m normally opposed to women in the military, maybe he could even talk his wife into joining him.

Too much automatic gun fire has cuase Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino to stay away from the border. (HT to Jawa Report)

HARLINGEN — South Texas sheriff’s deputies on Thursday were investigating whether Mexican gunmen who fired on deputies and Border Patrol agents from across the Rio Grande had crossed into the United States.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said 200 to 300 shots were fired from automatic weapons Wednesday night, but no one was injured on the U.S. side, and police didn’t fire back.

“This type of incident is a very good example of why I will not allow my deputies to patrol the river banks or the levees anywhere close to the river,” he said. “We do have drug trafficking gangs, human trafficking gangs, that will not hesitate to fire at us.”

As Junkyard Blog puts it:

Just don’t patrol near the scary border, which has trigger-happy bad guys.

The bad guys are making the Mexican/US Border an armed border. Of course we know why! To keep the paths open for drug trade, illegals and terrorists to enter the US. The Senate seems reluctant to do anything. The Governors for the most part are reluctant and it appears the Sherriff reads it right. Why put “my men’s lives” on the line. This makes the Minutemen project even more crucial. Just wait until some of our National Guard troops get hit by fire and are pulled from the border because it isn’t safe. Heck. Perhaps we should pull NY, LA and Chicago officers off the street. They are dangerous also. Just let the bad guys have their way. Hmmmm. Do you think the bad guys read this kind of news?

There is a great little post on Annan and Blair by Tammy Bruce. If you haven’t heard the latest then you missed Blair and Annan calling for UN Troops to be deployed in souther Lebanon. Yes, you heard that right, much to my amazement.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan called Monday for the deployment of international forces to stop the bombardment of Israel from southern Lebanon.

“The only way we’re going to get a cessation of hostilities is if we have the deployment of an international force into that area that can stop the bombardment coming over into Israel and therefore gives Israel a reason to stop its attacks on Hizbullah,” Blair said after meeting with Annan. “The only way, then, that this is going to work … is if we actually give people a reason for ceasing hostilities.”

Tammy asks the best question which really deserves a frank answer. Or should I say a question that needs to be aired by Blair. I doubt we get a good answer. But here is Tammy’s question.

Why anyone would want to stop the crushing of an armed Islamist terrorist group is beyond me. The only time Israel should stop its attacks on Hez is when that enemy of civilized people everywhere has been destroyed.

And what planet is Kofi Annan on? He thinks there is going to be a “ceasing of hostilities?” Terrorists never cease and Israel has been under regular attack for over 50 years. What a plan like this means is that Israel, and only Israel, is stopped from defending herself.

Tammy, I agree with you 100%. Why is anyone trying to protect the terrorist thugs and creeps. If it is a war on terror then the only way to win is to eliminate the ones doing it. So I say let Israel clear the entire region of thugs and perhaps then we would have peace. It happened before. Wonder where? Just check out the book of Judges and Kings.

SlimJim at RedState posted a thorough critique of George Allen’s record on the pro-life issue. Pro-lifer’s won’t like what he found.

I anticipated some of his criticisms in this Allen post. The only flaw in his reasoning was that Mitt Romney is better (and more consistent). Commenters took apart that claim in the comments; I had already done the same in this post.

Wow. Politically incorrect but true. At least these words were spoken on the O’Reilly Show. Who said these words? Gillerman of course. He is Israeli’s Ambassador to the United Nations. You can see his interview with O’Reily here.

If one things about what it would be like to watch our cities be bombed with rockets how would we respond. When people accuse Israel of being repressive certainly don’t talk about Syria or Iran. They will make sure no one accuses them of being repressive. They will kill you and then claim peace. Nice system.
