Jim Jordan Hits $1 Million

July 18, 2006 |

In the bid to win the 4th Congressional District Seat in Ohio State Sen. Jim Jordan has hit the million dollar milestone.

LIMA — State Sen. Jim Jordan has cracked the $1 million mark in fundraising for a congressional seat.

Jordan, R-Urbana, has out-raised his Democratic challenger Rick Siferd, a Lima attorney, by more than 10 to 1, according to new campaign finance records.

Jordan has raised just more than $1 million through June 30 compared with Siferd’s $76,000. Jordan has spent $866,279, leaving him with $135,198. Siferd has spent $65,881, leaving him with $10,280, according to July quarterly campaign finance reports filed by the candidates with the Federal Election Commission on Saturday.

Not surprising. He is a hard worker and gets himself to where he needs to be. A real competitor, hard work is no stranger Jordan. Some will try to brand him as sold out now that he has to raise big money. But if you notice where the money is coming from it might help you understand Jordan’s strength.

Most of what Jordan has raised so far, about $724,000, has come from individuals, many within Ohio. Of the 170 itemized individual contributions listed in the July report, 104 came from Ohioans. Jordan has also raised about $277,000 from political action committees. The groups represented are varied, including medicine, automotive, real estate and homebuilding, utilities, banking and finance, telecommunication, retailing and gun rights.

Jordan owes his greatest support to the families and individuals who believe in Jordan’s conservative views and approach to government. He owes his allegance to the families who have provided 3/4 of his support. We have confidence that Jordan will remain faithful to both his belief in Jesus Christ, his family and represent his district with excellence. Should we really expect any less from the people we send to Congress?
