Justice Bob Cupp - For the Supreme Court
August 5, 2006 |
The Honorable Cupp spoke in Allen County about his race for the Supreme Court. His successful race for the Court would make him the first Justice to be elected from Allen County and perhaps the first for NW Ohio as far as I can tell. Below is the article from the Lima News. It amazes me that this is all the reporter got out of the speech. Read on and I will tell you what they missed.
Ohio Supreme Court judicial candidate Bob Cupp knows his race isn’t the sexiest contest in an election year where voters will choose the state’s next governor — but that’s not going to stop him from campaigning.
On Friday, Cupp spoke to members of the Allen County Republican Party explaining the role of a justice on the state’s highest court. He also took the time to urge them to get involved and help spread the word to vote for him.
The race has taken Cupp around the state, and so far he’s having fun campaigning, he said.
“It’s been fun and enjoyable, but I’m sure by October I’ll have more fun than I can stand,” Cupp said.
Cupp started his speech by naming numerous places he’s been in what is a seven-day-a-week campaign effort.
“It’s a great feeling to be someplace where faces look familiar,” he said.
Cupp is running for the seat being left open by Justice Alice Robie Resnick who is not running again. He faces Democrat Ben Espy.
Cupp is a judge on the 3rd District Court of Appeals, which he touted as a reason to vote for him.
Sure the historic moment might be something to vote for but there was much more. The Lima News reporter just can’t seem to understand the concept of Judicial philosophy or the difference between activist Judges and strict constructionists. Bob Cupp gave an excellent speech and it touted his conservative view of the role a Justice plays in our Republic. Every conservative should remember his name and make sure to vote for Judge Bob Cupp for the Ohio Supreme Court.
Perhaps the paper couldn’t do any better since it didn’t know how to approach such ground without looking bad by not supporting a local candidate.
