Yes. That’s right. The only ones in Ohio’s parks with guns will be the criminals. Ohio courts have upheld Toledo’s ban on guns in parks. Columbus may be set to pass a similar law according to the mayor.

The proof Columbus needs this law according to the mayor? The 1,000 guns confiscated this year from the streets of Columbus. These included AK-47’s, Tec-9s and a sawed off shotgun. Will this cause the criminals now to keep their weapons out of the parks and streets? No. Just leave the law abiding citizens without any means of defense. Hopefully the legislators can do something about this. The mayor should enforce the current laws and jail the law-breakers. But instead he will go after the legal guns and their owners. Must be a Dem. Tough call wasn’t it.

In a race with Frank Guglielmi (millionaire) and very popular (and conservative) State Sen. Jim Jordan it was a slim chance for Nathan Martin who was fresh out of the military. As it turned out in the six man race it wasn’t close for any of the candidates as Jordan sweep the primary. Having met all of the candidates I tend to find it interesting when something unusual happens to them.

In the case of Nathan Martin I found it more than slightly fascinating to hear that he has become the national presidential coordinator for John Cox. Not a well known name and certainly a dark horse in the race. But that isn’t really the point of this post. What I find interesting to is that he has begun posting a little of life behind the scenes of a national campaign coordinator.

Those who watched the Congressional race to replace Congressman Mike Oxley may find it interesting to see one from the area work behind the scenes across the nation. So best of luck to Nathan on his new job and thanks for a peak behind the scenes.
