Bush’s Vigilantes Securing Border

Posted by Conservative Culture On September - 15 - 2006

It started with an article at BizzyBlog.

President George W. Bush and Border Angels founder Enrique Morones are wrong about the Minutemen being vigilantes. Vigilantes take the law into their own hands. Minutemen are not breaking the law — they are asking the federal government to enforce it. Illegal aliens and those who hire them are breaking the law.

Some citizens are concerned about the security and safety of the United States. They act because there was a lack of action by the government to secure the border. In turn this is how they are treated.

Part public-relations stunt, part political theater, the makeshift border patrol has already had an impact. The activists have virtually closed down a popular pipeline used by people smugglers.

This weekend, the Minutemen spotted 118 illegal aliens trying to cross the border.

“Our laws are being broken, our borders are being penetrated,” said one Minutewoman.

But the American Civil Liberties Union and some Hispanic organizations are keeping an eye on the Minutemen, fearing they will violate the individuals’ human rights.

“They’re coming into Arizona with guns and they’re threatening violence and harming people,” said a protester.

Border Patrol agent Andy Adams slams them further than the President’s remarks.

“They’re a bunch of civilians out there wandering aimlessly through the desert, setting off sensors. Our agents are having to respond to those sensors thinking it’s an illegal alien,” said Border Patrol agent Andy Adame.

While the border patrol salivates over the hopeful demise of the minutemen, Fox news reports on the success the minutemen are having.

The Minuteman Project is having an impact. Smugglers tell the Mexican press that crossing in the area where the Minutemen are patrolling is now impossible and they have to go elsewhere or wait 30 days until the Minutemen are gone.

This is probably a good reason that individuals and groups of concern citizens can respond faster, more productively than can large government. Government should aid and assist citizens to secure the border. We shouldn’t be aiding in creating a release valve from Mexico to the United States. The reason these people have to flee is because of a corrupt government in Mexico. The real solution is exporting real freedom and democracy to Mexico… not exporting Mexico to the United States en-mass.

We should not support any elected Rep. who will not help the minutemen. Legal immigrants should be required to learn and always speak the english language if they want to live in this country. Illegals should go home and get in line. They did it to themselves. We didn’t do it. We have to obey the laws. My hope is that every state sends them home. They have ruined our job market. Any way I can help let me know Thanks
