The Purpose Driven Life: Jihad Style

Pastor Rick Warren, who yesterday met with [Syrian] President Al-Assad and Foreign Minister Al-Mu’allim, said: “Washington is wrong not to hold dialogue with Syria, which wants peace. I call on the Americans to visit Syria and meet its beautiful people. I will tell the Americans that their idea about Syria does not reflect the truth.” This is what the American clergyman said after seeing the facts on the ground. It was not in his interest not to say the truth about what he himself and the accompanying Protestant delegation saw and felt.

I have no problem for preachers to say that their nation is wrong about some particular issue. What amazes me is that he didn’t also challenge Syrian officials to stop sponsoring terror and their involvement in Iraq. Would that be asking a tad to much? Is this just another unraveling thread in the tapestry of our nation? Watch for more to come.

Next year, Warren is scheduled to visit North Korea at the invitation of its despotic Communist regime. It is reasonable to assume that the North Korean state-controlled media will issue reports about Warren’s visit there that are remarkably similar to the Syria’s dictatorship’s boastful coverage of Warren’s chit-chat with them.
It is sad story, repeated often. Big-name U.S. preachers, often otherwise sensible and orthodox in their faith, visit despotic regimes and naively curry favor with police state thugs. The preachers supinely believe that their cozy ties with the dictatorship will facilitate greater preaching access to the oppressed populations. But the end result more usually is a propaganda bonanza for the tyrants, and a population that is left to feel forgotten by the outside world.

Well, I wonder if his adoring book readers will be taken back enough to do something.. like no longer support his book sales. Some how I doubt it. With 30,000 followers I doubt that he feels any way diminished by this criticism. HT to Western Resistance.

Too many Christians and Jews believe that there is no such thing as evil. It looks like this guy Rick Warren is one more of the pied pipers that would be singing and dancing all the while leading you and me straight into a gas chamber.

You talk about despotic regimes, eh? Maybe you forgot about the despotic regimes YOUR conservative government financed and protected. YOUR government was good friends of Saddam Hussein when after the Islamic Revolution. In fact, Saddam praised Regan as a great leader. What about the meetings with Rumsfeld and Saddam in the early 1980s? What about the murderous government of Samoza in Nicaragua? What about the dicatorship in Haiti? What about the despoit goverments in Zaire of Mobuto Sese Seko? Did you conveniently forget these despotic regimes that YOUR conservative govermments (Regan and Bush) imposed and protected? Or was it just that it was too inconvenient for you to bring them up in your “Conservative” Blog? In either case, it clearly demonstrates that you are either too stupid and ignorant of your own country’s history or a liar, in either case, it just demonstrates your incapacity to understand international relations from your so called “conservative” perspective.
