HB347 Status Update - OH Carry Conceal
December 4, 2006 |
Buckeye Firearms Association has learned that the Clerk’s office has had HB 347 in enrolled form (Act form) ready for the Governor since Thursday. Governor Taft’s office has refused to call for it or pick it up, meaning they were less than forthcoming while speaking with the Associated Press. This delay so far has been allowed as a matter of courtesy and custom. It is expected that the General Assembly will shortly force the issue by transmitting the Act to the Governor, with or without his request or pickup. This will start the 10 day veto clock, which excludes Sundays. We remain vigilant and working behind the scenes to get this Act through our obstructionist Governor’s office, and ask that you remain supportive of the legislators who voted with us. It is not their fault Governor Taft continues to try and play games with your rights, leading to yet one or two more days where people are subjected to absurd plain sight provisions and baseless local ordinances. Please see the Action Item below for information on how to thank your Representative and Senator for their support and to encourage them to see to it HB347 becomes law despite the Governor’s recent actions.
Make sure to visit BuckeyeFirearms.org website for continuing updates on this important legislation.
Action Item
Concealed carry reform that would eliminate the need to carry a gun in plain sight is on the verge of becoming law, but we need your immediate help. Governor Taft has changed his mind again and threatened to veto this good bill, which would require a veto override.Use the Buckeye Firearms Voter Guide form below to find contact information for your State Representative and your State Senator. Then phone and either thank them for their vote on HB347, or ask them to do the right thing if they voted against us. Many people complain when a legislator votes against them, but today we especially need to call and thank our friends who voted with us. We may need to call upon them in the coming days for the most crucial vote yet - a veto override vote.
