Dim Wits: Ban the Light Bulb!

Grab the candles? Not really needed once you read the article. It appears that the libs are coming to the rescue of incompetent people who don’t again know what’s best for them.

Sacramento, Calif. — How many people does it take to change a light bulb? In California, the answer could be a majority of the Legislature.

The electricity-wasting incandescent bulb would be banned — replaced by energy efficient compact fluorescents — under a bill that Assemblyman Lloyd Levine plans to introduce.

He says the spiral light sources are so efficient that consumers should be forced to use them. The compact bulbs use one-fourth the electricity spent in an equivalent incandescent.

“Incandescent light bulbs were first developed almost 125 years ago, and since that time they have undergone no major modifications,” said Mr. Levine, a Democrat from Los Angeles, said in a news release Tuesday. “It’s time to take a step forward.”

I believe that our Creator gave us the responsibility to be good stewards of our resources. In fact I used some of the new florescent bulbs and they work great. However I didn’t need some pencil pushers to tell me what was best. I did it because it meant I could light an entire room for the same money I spend on one or two bulbs. Nice. There are several places however that I choose to use the regular bulbs because of where they are. Shouldn’t we let the consumer choose which bulb they buy. Guess who pays for it. Now if the state wants to pay for my electricity then perhaps they can have a say on which ones go in the house.
