This is about the last straw. There is evidence which shows that the case toward the two agents jailed for wounding an unarmed Illegal Immigrant Drug Smuggler may not be what it seemed. In the meantime they have been sentenced to 10 years, received no pardon and now an incompetent warden has allowed one of the border agents to be unprotected in prison from illegals bent on killing the officer. Read on but this is just nuts and isn’t right.
In the meantime others are going so far as to talk “impeachment” if these men die. Granted it won’t get much traction but it certainly shows just how disgusted many people are over this action toward our agents. This only becomes more relevant if the information (will blog on this later today or in the morning) is shown to be accurate that the case isn’t as it was portrayed.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Former Border Agent, Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos was brutally attacked by as many as five illegal immigrant inmates on Saturday evening (2/3) following the airing of an America’s Most Wanted segment featuring both Ramos and Compean.
According to family members, the attack began around 10 pm, after Ramos fell asleep. “Nacho was assaulted Saturday night by about five illegal immigrants who were yelling at him in Spanish, Maten a la migra — which means kill the Border Patrol Agent.” He has multiple and severe injuries. They put him in isolation for now and he may not have received medical attention for up to 48 hours.
Another family member confirmed that his attackers beat him with repeated blows and kicks. Ramos suffered wounds to his back, shoulder, arms and head. Additionally, there is concern that Agent Ramos was not given medical treatment immediately after the incident and may not have received medical attention for up to 48 hours. An investigation is expected to be launched Tuesday.
“Our government has betrayed these agents,” said Grassfire President Steve Elliott. “And now they have put these men in mortal danger. I am frightened for the lives of these two family men. This is beyond outrage, and I am calling on grassroots Americans to express their outrage directly to the White House — demanding the President pardon agents Ramos and Compean before it’s too late!”
Consider the words of Pirates Cove.
Weeks after accusing President Bush of “shameful” behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.
Speaking after the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that agent Ignacio Ramos was assaulted by inmates in his Mississippi prison over the weekend, California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher had a warning for the White House.
“I tell you, Mr. President, if these men — especially after this assault — are murdered in prison, if one of them lose their lives, there’s going to be some sort of impeachment talk in Capitol Hill,” he told a press conference in Washington D.C.(Listen to Audio)
This is a Republican saying this, not a loony Democrat. Did the border agents do something wrong? Possibly, though, the evidence is not quite what it seems. Even so, there have been plenty of people who were pardoned for much lesser crimes, and they were people who were criminals, and some even went back to bad behavior. Think Marc Rich. Think frug dealers. Counterfitters. People who harm Americans.
Ramos and Jose Compean were charged with protecting our borders. The good guys. And deserve a pardon. As much as it pains me to write, if one of them is killed or seriously injured, I might have to agree with Rep. Rohrabacher.
This will only inflame the issue and will demand answers and action. We talk about securing the border but already the gates have been breached, our nation at risk and those who protect the border (not just these two agents) are put in jeopardy.
