Ohio Taxpayers Pickup NFL’s Tab
May 15, 2007 |
We are in a tough crunch for Ohio and this is what we spend money on? Your kidding right? I only wish we were.
Through this commission, the state of Ohio subsidizes the NFL to the tune of $1.65 million. Specifically, Ohio helps pay the bill for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Let’s do the math. The NFL’s 32 teams have a combined value (according to Forbes Magazine) of $26.2 billion. And $1.65 million comes out to a minuscule .00629% of that combined value, or .00019% of each team’s average value. This means that each team would need to contribute just $49,793 to fund the Hall of Fame.
Instead, the legislature picks up the tab, and the buck gets passed to Ohio taxpayers.
