House wants to free jailed agents

The House is exploring and acting on several strategies to free the jailed agents who shot an unarmed drug smuggler who fled back into Mexico.

The two agents admitted they shot and wounded unarmed drug-smuggling suspect Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila in the buttocks as he fled from them on Feb. 17, 2005, after crashing a van loaded with 743 pounds of marijuana in west Texas. He fled on foot; they caught him and scuffled. He escaped and refused their order to stop as he ran toward the Mexican border.

Compean and Ramos opened fire. The two veteran agents say they saw him reaching for something, perhaps what they thought might be a gun, when they fired.

The ways they are looking at freeing the agents include…

WASHINGTON | Members of Congress have devised an interesting mix of strategies to try to free two former Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a drug smuggler.

Citing “prosecutorial overreaching,” Sens. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, and Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat, joined forces to send a letter to President Bush urging a commutation for the agents.

Other lawmakers went a step further, asking the White House for a pardon.

A few GOP House members are venturing into less conventional waters, including an unusual congressional pardon and an amendment to block the Bureau of Prisons from spending money to imprison the former officers.

Lets hope that some justice is give these men who have help protect our borders. Every day these men make split second decisions. They did the right thing and shouldn’t be punished for it.

Lima City Salivating Heavily Over Casino Hopes

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 31 - 2007

Let the big payouts begin… or at least the stick and carrot kind. How do you sell a real stupid idea to the city and area residents? Easy… just offer money. Of course there is no casino… and presently no legal way to have an Indian Casino… but the hopes and dreams are being fueled by large cash payouts.

It’s stupid because they are looking at giving away their land forever just at the chance a casino would become legal. They are giving away land to a foreign entity that presupposes they actually make a profit… most likely from the middle to poor class in the region who won’t travel to the “real” casinos in Nevada. They give away land with no guarantee of future payments. But the Mayor Berger (democrat) of Lima and “republican” John Nixon (sitting appointed Council President) are already drooling heavily.

John Nixon on the $15,000 payment for a expert on Indian Casinos….

Council President John Nixon said the $15,000 has the potential for a return on its investment with a conservative estimate of $2 million to $4 million annually from the tribe’s casino.

Financial director sees only dollar signs… realize that no casino can be built… but they act like it will happen soon and hire even more than the two regional hospitals in the area.

“Even with conservative numbers, the numbers are pretty astronomical,” Cleaves said. “Stop and think: This would be the city’s largest employer. It’s just a huge economic spark. From an economic basis, it’s indisputable.”

Financial director sees only dollar signs… realize that no casino can be built… but they act like it will happen
in the next year. This is shear desperation for a city that should have spent similar efforts for real jobs. Councilman Ray Magnus (running for Council President) opposes the casino on grounds that it will hurt the city in the long run. He also asked the council to put in more protection for the city in the agreement. It appears they don’t want to do that either.

Magnus asked if more protections for the city can be written into the agreement. As written, the agreement allows the tribe to nullify the agreement with 90 days notice. However, if that happens, Mayor David Berger said, the city is under no obligation to provide the development water or sewer service, which Ohio law says must come from a municipal source.

It appears that they depend on Ohio law for the answer to the water issue but seem to ignore the fact that Ohio currently doesn’t allow the kind of casino gambling they want and that has been seen in the past votes on recent issue ballots. What does this mean for the future of the land. It appears that they are ready to hand the land over and take the Gamble that they will get a casino in some distant future. Dreams of money… so tempting… so distant… so dangerous to politicians and their common senses.

Jordan Calls Out Democratice Leadership

Posted by Conservative Culture On July - 31 - 2007

It’s high time that conservative Republicans call out and expose the liberal desire for a defeat in Iraq. They have done everything possible to generate that defeat despite their “cover” of being patriotic. However their actions and words expose them their true political nature. Below are comments from Congressman Jordan and here is the article that has the Dems Top Man talking about how damaging a good report in Iraq would be. Remember… keep a liberal talking long enough and they will expose themselves and their true intent.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) today urged House Democrat leadership to repudiate comments made by Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-SC) implying that a positive progress report on Iraq by Army General David Petraeus could stand in the way of the Democrats’ political agenda.

“To even imply that a party is staking its political future on the success of America’s enemies is a slap in the face to every man and woman in uniform,” Jordan said.

In a Monday interview with the Washington Post, Clyburn said it would be a “real big problem” for Democrats if General Petraeus’s expected September report on the military, political, and economic situation in Iraq shows signs of progress in that country.

“First, the Democrat Party tried what it called a ‘slow-bleed’ strategy to get its way by withholding funds from the troops,” Jordan said.  “Now it admits that American successes in the war on terror hurt its political plans.”

Jordan, who returned recently from a congressional delegation visit to Iraq, said that American troops are in high spirits, and that their efforts have helped coalition forces make significant progress in recent months.

“If there is one thing all Americans can agree on, it’s that winning beats losing every time,” said Jordan.  “We must all stand behind our troops as they work to complete their mission and come home.”

Can you also say traitor? A person who desires the enemy to be victorious for your own political gain… for that is what they are.
