WAPAKONETA — A former state representative will be heading to trial on charges he operated a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A judge on Monday denied a motion to suppress evidence in the case and set an Aug. 20 trial date for former Rep. Derrick Seaver, of Minster.

Seaver and his Sidney-based attorney, Rob C. Wiesenmayer II, had argued in Auglaize County Municipal Court on Friday that Seaver’s field sobriety tests from his March 25 traffic stop should be thrown out. Judge Gary Herman on Monday issued his decision denying the motion…..

Seaver was pulled over near mile marker 108 on southbound Interstate 75 shortly before 4:30 a.m. March 25 by Trooper Tim Wenger of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Video from Wenger’s cruiser, played at Friday’s hearing, showed Seaver’s 2004 maroon Chrysler sedan weaving between the centerline and the white lane edge line repeatedly before being stopped.
