Crackdown on U.S.-Mexico border deters potential (migrants???)
No one wants to stop immigrants. We just want to stop illegal immigrants. But the crack down is doing something good at the border. Instead of filling in transition houses to come north they are filling with south bound illegals. If you make it tough enough we won’t need to deport 12 million illegals… they will return on their own… well at least many of them.
TECATE, Mexico | Mexican shelters, usually the last stop for northbound migrants, are filling with southbound deportees.
Fewer migrants are crossing in the windswept deserts along an increasingly fortified border. Far to the north, fields are empty at harvest time as workplace raids become more common.
More people are giving up on the American dream and staying home. The federal crackdown on undocumented workers announced Friday should discourage potential migrants from taking the risks as the United States purges itself of its illegal-immigrant population.
U.S. border agents detained 55,545 illegal migrants jumping over border walls, walking through the desert and swimming across the Rio Grande between October and June. That is down 38 percent compared with the same period a year before.
U.S. and Mexican officials say that increased border security, including 6,000 National Guard troops, along with remote surveillance technology and drone planes have thwarted smugglers who had succeeded for years at beating the system.
Notice that some how the American dream is being with held from legal migrants… instead it should acknowledge the people breaking the law are being prevented from taking advantage of the system. Hey… is that the American Dream?
