Dry Run for Nuke Attack On US Soil?

Posted by Conservative Splinter On September - 6 - 2007

No one seems to know how in the world this could have happened. Of course one might simply dismiss the news and pass it off as an unintentional error. It is entirely in the realm of possibility that it was a dry run among operatives within certain military circles. Doubt it will ever be reported as such and may be nothing. But how in the heck does the military not know how six nuclear cruise missiles can be touted on wings across the central states of America? One can only wonder.

WASHINGTON - An Air Force B-52 bomber carrying six cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads flew across the central United States last week after the nuclear weapons were mistakenly attached to the plane’s wing, defense officials said Wednesday.

The Stratofortress bomber, based at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., was flying a dozen advanced cruise missiles to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., on Aug. 30. But crews inadvertently loaded half of them with nuclear warheads attached.

The Air Force quickly launched an investigation that is expected to take several weeks. The munitions squadron commander was relieved of his duties, and crews involved with the mistaken load have been temporarily decertified for handling munitions, one official said.

Iowa Halts Same Sex Marriage Applications

Posted by Conservative Culture On September - 6 - 2007

Less than 24 hours after the Judge’s order that the county accept applications there has been another order received to stay the order. The Judge’s first order is politically motivated and legislating from the bench. One couple (gay) was waiting in the wing on the Judge’s order. Thanks (or no thanks) tot he Unitarian church the couple assumes they are married. There are 27 couples that returned the licenses in time now creating a dilemma… something the Judge knew would happen. Just another reason you need good judges who don’t legislate from the bench.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Same-sex marriage was legal here for less than 24 hours before the county won a stay of a judge’s order on Friday, a tiny window of opportunity that allowed two men to make history but left dozens of other couples disappointed after a frantic rush to the altar.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, Judge Robert Hanson ordered Polk County officials to accept marriage license requests from same-sex couples, but he granted the stay at about 12:30 p.m. Friday. By then 27 same-sex couples had filed applications, but only Sean Fritz and Tim McQuillan of Ames had made it official by getting married and returning the signed license to the courthouse in time.

In the front yard of the Rev. Mark Stringer, pastor of the First Unitarian Church of Des Moines, they become the only same-sex couple wed in the U.S. outside of Massachusetts, where some 8,000 such couples have tied the knot.

Stringer concluded the ceremony by saying, “This is a legal document and you are married.” The men then kissed and hugged.

“This is it. We’re married. I love you,” Fritz told McQuillan after the ceremony.

Sex Offenders Granfathered In

Posted by Conservative Splinter On September - 6 - 2007

Talk about being grandfathered in the law. Sex offenders, if they committed their crime prior to July 31, 2003 can remain in their homes even though they live within 1,000 feet of a school. This law was meant to lend comfort to parents knowing that perverts aren’t peeking out their windows at their children. But one wonders if the “sex offender” free zones will be as effective as gun free zones. Just because it’s law doesn’t mean you can rest assured your children are safe. It also doesn’t eliminate the danger that other “less monitored” places offer. Our children are never truly safe as long as we tolerate such sickness to prowl the streets.

CLEVELAND (AP) — A federal judge struck down part of a law barring convicted sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a school, saying offenders can remain in their homes if their crimes were committed before the law went into effect.

In a decision Tuesday, Judge James S. Gwin in Akron ruled that the law cannot be applied to anyone who committed a crime before July 31, 2003, the effective date of the Ohio Legislature’s ban.

The decision affects offenders living in 40 counties covered by the U.S. District Court Northern District of Ohio, said David Singleton, executive director of the Cincinnati-based Ohio Justice and Policy Cen
