Expect a lengthy trial and the tax payers paying $30,000 plus a year to feed, house and care for this man. That’s $30,000 that can’t be spent on education, roads, or business development. It’s also another $30,000 that will have to be paid by you and I. Could we call it a tax on the innocent. What is the price for an execution? Priceless.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A man pleaded guilty Thursday to abducting and killing an Ohio State freshman 13 years ago and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Jonathan Gravely, 37, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and kidnapping in the death of 18-year-old Stephanie Hummer in 1994.

Police solved the killing with the help of DNA evidence. Gravely had submitted a DNA sample because of a 2003 conviction for failure to pay child support. Police later linked Gravely to the killing.

Gravely, who police say did not know Hummer, was not an original suspect in her death.

Police said the suburban Cincinnati teenager was abducted as she walked to a friend’s house near campus. Her body was found about 10 hours later in a field. She had been raped and died of a blow to the head.
