Kasich Coming To Allen County

Posted by Conservative Culture On October - 5 - 2007

Nice… very nice. Better get your tickets if you want to hear John Kasich. Good job the local Chairman along with help from conservative Congressman Jim Jordan. Top of the line speaker and it isn’t even 2008 yet. If Ohio is fortunate enough they will get this man as their next Governor.

LIMA — Former U.S. Rep. John Kasich will be the keynote speaker at the Allen County Republican Party fall Bar-B-Q.

The dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, Party Chairman Keith Cheney said Wednesday.

“This is like hitting a homerun with two outs to win the World Series,” Cheney said of the excitement Kasich’s appearance is generating.

Kasich served nine terms representing a district near Columbus in the U.S. House. He now hosts FOX News’ “Heartland with John Kasich,” substitutes as a host on “The O’Reilly Factor” and is an investment banker on Wall Street. Newsweek named Kasich on it its 100 people of the 21st Century.

Kasich recently released a new book, “Stand for Something: The Battle for America’s Soul” and is the author of the best-selling, “Courage is Contagious.”

Kasich is considering a run for Ohio governor in 2010 and has been busy on the state Republican lecture circuit, re-entering local politics. Kasich has been away from politics since 2001. He ran for president in 2000.

Tickets are $15 and available at the party office, 3111 W. Elm St., from any Central and Executive Committee member, or by phoning 419-331-5655.

The Future of Marriage Expansion - Maryland?

Posted by Conservative Culture On October - 5 - 2007

For some it is the long road to the demise of the culture. For others it will be the sound of reason. As America heads down the proverbial path toward same-sex marriage there is the new voice for the end of the traditional definition of marriage. What makes this comment in Maryland by the Governor so different. He is addressing the “concerns” of religious institutions while promoting rights. Who can argue with such a public perception? Ground has been gained and now the foothold in the marriage expansion movement knows it just will be time before same-sex marriage becomes law… unless something dramatically changes in the cultural landscape.

[Washington Blade] ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Gov. Martin O’Malley, in an exclusive interview with the Blade this week, indicated that he is amenable to signing a bill extending marriage rights to gays, as long as it contains a provision exempting religious institutions.

“Without infringing on anyone’s faith, that would be a law I should sign,” he said.

Several lawmakers have vowed to introduce such a measure in the next legislative session beginning in January, though passing a marriage bill in Maryland would likely be an uphill fight. Senate President Mike Miller has said that he opposes both same-sex marriage and civil unions. O’Malley said he backs civil unions and was disappointed by Miller’s opposition to such a measure.

The interview, conducted in the governor’s office in Annapolis, came about after gay Marylanders reacted with disappointment and anger to a statement O’Malley issued last month in response to the state high court ruling upholding a ban on same-sex marriage.

“…Those of us with the responsibility of passing and enforcing laws have an obligation to protect the rights of all individuals equally, without telling any faith how to define its sacraments,” O’Malley said in a statement. “I respect the Court’s decision.”

How Real Libs Want To Spend Tax Money - Send Prostitutes for Troops

Posted by Conservative Splinter On October - 5 - 2007

Just another reason you don’t want EU loving Libs in America into Office.

A top female politician ín Holland wants Dutch prostitutes sent abroad with the troops to help them relax.

Annemarie Jorritsma, a politician for the centre-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the mayor of the town of Almere, went on national Dutch TV to demand the ‘extra benefits’ for soldiers.

She added: “The army must think about how their soldiers can let off some steam.”

The ideas has been backed by the Dutch sex workers union which said it thought the idea had some merit.

But an unnamed military spokesman, quoted in the ‘Volkskrant’ newspaper, expressed reservations.

He said: “I don’t think my wife would like the idea very much.”

There are currently around 2,000 Dutch soldiers stationed outside of the Netherlands, the majority in either Afghanistan and Bosnia.

Bush to possibly sign Hate Legislation?

Posted by Conservative Splinter On October - 5 - 2007

This would be one of the worst possible acts the President could sign. Crime should be punished without the Though Police trying to figure out what’s inside your head. This is simply a beast waiting to be unleashed not just for criminal acts but for what could become criminal thought!

[Washington Blade] Some conservatives were increasingly nervous this week that President Bush would accept the gay-inclusive hate crimes measure Congress added to the defense authorization bill.

It was not immediately clear whether Bush would sign or veto the legislative package, which passed the Senate 92-3 on Monday, when it reaches his desk sometime later this month.

Peter LaBarbara, president of the anti-gay Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, said the veto that conservatives once expected is no longer seen as a foregone conclusion.

“Everybody’s counting on a veto,” he said. “Although if you read the actual statement, it wasn’t a promise of a veto.”

Modern Day Luther?

Posted by Conservative Splinter On October - 5 - 2007

The only thing missing in this story is the nailing of the actual articles of complain. Indeed the Ohio Catholic is in need of coming clean about the problems it has that are causing serious problems. However, it is finding itself fighting against one who is calling the church on the bad behavior everyone else knows it has been covering over. Question that statement. Let’s talk about the hearings on the sex abuse cases before the Ohio Legislature. The main concern is that

He said “the resources of the church would be limited, and there’s a possibility that the financial pursuits of the church . . . will be very much affected.”

The Rev. Stephen Stanbery has railed against sexual abuse, parish closings, and an alleged murder cover-up involving the Catholic Church.

His fighting of these and other injustices has apparently landed him both a national award and a stern reprimand by Toledo Bishop Leonard Blair.

Father Stanbery, 57, who is the pastor of Holgate St. Mary and New Bavaria’s Sacred Heart, was one of three priests from across the country picked to receive the Priest of Integrity award by Voice of the Faithful, a national organization of Catholics that works for change in the church and supports survivors of clerical sexual abuse.
In its announcement of the award winners, Voice of the Faithful said Father Stanbery has “been on a continuing crusade for integrity and transparency in his diocese since the sex scandals became apparent in 2002. He has worked tirelessly to root out the evil in the [alleged] coverup of a murder probe of a slain Catholic nun, clergy sexual abuse cases, closed parishes, and financial impropriety. He participated in the Oscar-nominated documentary Twist of Faith.”
