Arnold Schwarzenegger upheld his promise and precedent by vetoing a Mark Leno-sponsored bill that amending marriage’s definition. Men and women would be replaced by the more inclusive “persons,” a concept that must not translate for Austrian born Schwarzenegger.

After delivering his blow, the Republican governor proclaimed,

It would be wrong for the people to vote for something and for me to then overturn it. So they can send this bill down as many times as they want, I won’t do it.
