Mayor Oversees Same Sex Ceremony - Philadelphia

Conservative Culture catches most of these articles. But I haven’t posted for a bit and saw it.  So here goes… People are free to develope their own relationships and mark them in a special way. Apply your mind to the endless possibilities and you have what Conservative Culture has pointed out for some time. Marriage Expansion goes way beyond the “traditional” same sex weddings activists say they are promoting. Just wait and see my friends.

[CBS 3] PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ? Philadelphia Mayor John Street presided over his first same-sex commitment ceremony but not without controversy.

Protesters greeted guests on their way into City Hall for the service of Micah Mahjoubian and Ryan Bunch on Saturday.

Mahjoubian is a long-time friend and colleague of the mayor’s and requested he perform the ceremony.

“He lends legitimacy to what we’ve done today and that was important for us to do that in the eyes of our friends and especially our family,” Micah said.

Street, who at one time opposed benefits for same-sex partners of city employees, explained why he agreed.

“A gay marriage is not legal in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania but that does not mean people aren’t entitled to develop their own relationships and mark them in a special way,” Street said.
