Congressman Jordan to run again

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 18 - 2007

No surprise and good news for those who like real conservatives in government. The only shame is that there are not more men like this actually in the Congress. People really don’t realize just what a gem he is.

[Lima News: Picture and content] LIMA — Announcing a run for a second term in Congress, U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan said he will continue working on an issue he’s devoted a good measure of time to already: lowering federal spending.

While the nation’s economy is strong, it could be better, Jordan said, and families paying $3 for gas, home-heating costs and higher insurance aren’t feeling it.

“It’s why it’s important for policymakers to do things right for a change, and address overall spending and taxation,” Jordan said. “It’s important to look at health care. By February we’ll have our presidential nominees decided and you’ll see a real debate this country goes in health care.”

Since taking office in January, Jordan, 43, a Republican from Urbana, said he has introduced more amendments to hold the line on federal spending than any other congressional member.

“We started with a simple idea — with the nondefense appropriation bills, let’s spend what we spent last year and let’s save $20 billion for taxpayers.”

Giuliani “would be” honor bound to uphold 2nd amendment

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 18 - 2007

Top PhotoI find these words very disturbing at best. I know what he intended too communicate but the words betray his past actions. I like Rudy and enjoy hearing him speak. But to say “would be honor bound to uphold the Second Amendment” as President should say something about his core view  and values in reference to the Constitution. Every patriot should have the 2nd amendment as something you support and uphold at every level of service to this nation. Not just when you become President. I would consider myself honor bound to uphold the Constitution in whatever position I held.

To be honest I wonder what words our wonderful Dem Gov. Strickland would have to say about this comment. Equally curious would be Lt. Gov. Fisher who is totally anti-gun. Just wondering.

[Seacostonline] DURHAM — Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said that he would support the Second Amendment despite his imposition of a ban on semi-automatic handguns while mayor of New York City.

“I used the gun laws aggressively in New York. I had to, and it worked well,” Giuliani said in response to a question asked during a brief campaign stop at Goss International on Monday. “As president of the United States of America, I would be honor bound to uphold the Second Amendment.”

This was not the first time Giuliani had been confronted with his well-known stand on gun control. In an analysis of the former mayor’s position, John Velleco, director of Federal Affairs for the Gun Owners of America Group, indicated Giuliani had tried to extend his vision of gun control to the nation in the 1990s.

Noting the mayor’s current stance that states should have the right to choose whether to control guns and to what extent, Velleco said that position does not jibe with Giuliani’s former positions.
